But hearing this revving up next to me along a mile-long stretch.... Hnghhh! Eargasm. I don’t recognize the badging. What is this?
Also saw a new Roush Mustang on the way to work. The pony cars are out in full force!

That’s a GT350R.

Shelby GT350R
That’s why it sounds so good.

I’m also not a Mustang guy, but this latest GT350 might make me one.
R pictured - unobtainium!

Only reason I’d question if it’s a GT350R would be that the exhaust is wrong.

Is it a GT350? Doesn’t the GT350R have quad exhaust tips?
What’s that badge on the side, behind the front wheel?
![]() 03/15/2018 at 11:40 |

And if it actually a Shelby it’s got an aftermarket exhaust, they have quad pipes.

No fender vent. Wanna be spoiler is wanna be.

Even fooled the Mustang guy.

Poor v6 mustang.

The spoiler seems like an afterthought on this car.

Right? There was a current gen GT a few cars up as well

Such a lustful car, although 45-55K buys a LOT of car these days giving it steep competition.
I wish Ford would drop the motor in the Focus RS chassis, now that would be something to behold.

VOODOO.

Yeah, for the price it make a lot more sense to have a daily and a fun/track car instead.

So far my fun car budget needs to stay <$40K, but something newer with a warranty is surely tempting. Like all lunatics on this website I have been browsing classifieds and sending out feelers, most recently for 06+ Lotus Elise/Exiges and the odd 987.2 Cayman S (find me a cheap Boxster Spyder!)
Totally off topic, but more recently the debate has been do I get more joy in the cars n’ coffee, canyon run and project ownership or tracking the hell out of a cheaper car.

Flat plane V8, always going to sound good.

This - fake GT350R.

Those do sound great but that wing has got to go. An ironing board would look better

My dreams are like your dreams - ha! I’m not looking to buy any time soon, but my Autotrader daydreaming searches have starting including a max of $60k... Probably wishful thinking, but I like to see what’s starting to come down into my price range as well. I haven’t bought a car for 6 years, and I’m “due” before my wife is again. Honestly not sure what’s next for me. Might have to be a small truck or SUV first, to replace my aging beater Pathfinder, and to eventually be used by my oldest son. Any fun car I buy will probably have to have at least 4 seats for at least the next 5 years, so I may hold off any purchase like that until I can get something less practical. Hopefully my M3 can hold up that long! At 110k right now, and another 5 years would put me around 180k or so.
I’m heading to the track in a couple weeks and on a backroadtrip in the Ozarks next month. =)

Exactly, I have a few other priorities in the near term future but that hasn’t stopped me looking. Adding a DD Mazda3 Hatch in January really helped re-prioritize the garage.
How often do you make it to the track? Once the rainy season clears I am trying to get my wife and I out to Laguna Seca or Thunderhill.

I’d be happy to own a manual 3 hatch again - had an ‘05 for 7 years prior to my M3. Great little cars.
This will be the first time back to the track in a couple years. For a while there, I was getting out a couple times a year, and I’d like to get back to at least that, but it’s a challenge with work, 3 young kids active in sports, and work around the house.

Wish we had bought it in MT! There was an identical spec and price car (in MT), however this had to be the do-it-all hauler, roadtrip and lend to friends/family car.
Nice, well enjoy it out there! I don’t have an HDPE days on the books for 2018 and I have no legitimate excuses.

Thanks - heading to the 3.1 at MSR-Cresson, if I hadn’t mentioned it. You’d better get some on the schedule! Doesn’t happen otherwise... =)

So what is this??
![]() 03/17/2018 at 15:27 |

It’s just a regular Mustang GT with a replica GT350R wing and a fake badge. The rear of a real GT350R looks like this (note the quad exhaust and the vent in the front fender):

Oh man... I guess the exhaust should have been a dead giveaway. I talked to a guy on TrackHQ.com who was a part of the testing/design process and he just waxed poetic all about the exhaust, how it was made specifically to combat any vibrations/imbalances, while flowing fantastically and going from daily driver to full-on Racecar depending on modes, etc.
What are your thoughts on the car after owning it for however long you have?
